DATA PROTOCOL ARCHIVE: PRIVACY

# Privacy Policy

How this site handles (very little) data

Survival Apps is a static blog-portfolio. It's built to collect the bare minimum: **no tracking cookies, no profiling, no sign-up, no form that sends data to third parties**. This page explains, plainly, the one data processing that does happen.

## Data controller

Benedetto Durante — Survival Apps. For any request about your data, contact: [contatti@survival-apps.com](mailto:contatti@survival-apps.com).

## Traffic statistics: Cloudflare Web Analytics

To understand how many people read the archive and which transmissions get the most attention, the site uses **Cloudflare Web Analytics**. It's a privacy-minded web analytics tool:

- **NO COOKIES** — it doesn't install cookies on your device and doesn't keep identifiers from one visit to the next
- **NO FINGERPRINTING** — it doesn't collect your browser's “fingerprint” or any data that personally identifies you
- **AGGREGATE DATA ONLY** — it measures anonymous, overall metrics: page views, general origin (referrer), device and browser type, country

Technically, a small script (a “beacon”) is loaded from `static.cloudflareinsights.com` and sends this aggregate data to Cloudflare, which acts as the measurement service provider. No individual profiles are created, and it's not possible to trace anything back to a single person. More details in [Cloudflare's privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/).

## Hosting

The site is hosted on **Cloudflare Pages**. Like any web server, the infrastructure may log technical connection data (e.g. IP address, kept only for a short technical period and for security) needed to serve the pages and protect them from abuse. These logs are not used to profile visitors.

## The Survival Apps apps

The apps (BioRadar, EcoSurvivor, HotSummer, Item90) run on your phone and **have no account and no Survival Apps server**: what you enter or save stays on the device and is not sent to me. Some features, however, contact external services. Here they are, app by app.

- **ALL · LICENSE CHECK** — at activation and about every 7 days the app contacts **Payhip** (the service you bought from), sending the license key along with the usual technical data of any connection, such as the IP address. It is used to check that the license is valid. Payhip also handles the purchase and the payment data under [its own policy](https://payhip.com/privacy)
- **BIORADAR** — to show you nearby species it sends your position (rounded to about 1 km) to **iNaturalist** and the species name to **Wikipedia**. If you search for a place by name, the text you type goes to **OpenStreetMap's Nominatim**, only when you press SEARCH
- **HOTSUMMER** — for forecasts, air quality and town search it sends coordinates to **Open-Meteo**; to find the nearest green area, to **OpenStreetMap (Overpass)**; the map loads its tiles from OpenStreetMap; the place name for your GPS position is requested from the phone's geocoding service (on Android, usually Google). The **risk profile** (age, weight, height, health conditions) is optional and stays only on the phone: it is not sent to anyone
- **ECOSURVIVOR** — no financial data leaves the phone. The only connection is the license check
- **ITEM90** — no inventory data leaves the phone. The only connection is the license check

These services, like any website, also receive the IP address of whoever connects and handle it under their own policies. I don't use this data to profile you and I don't keep it: I never receive it. **Legal basis:** performance of the purchase contract (for the license check) and the use you request by pressing the feature buttons (location, search). You can deny the location permission from your phone: the apps stay usable by picking a place by hand. For the purchase see also the [Terms of sale and license](https://survival-apps.com/en/terms/) and [Refunds and withdrawal](https://survival-apps.com/en/refunds/).

## What we do NOT do

- No profiling or advertising cookies
- No cross-site tracking, no social network pixels
- No selling or handing over of data to third parties for marketing
- No fonts, scripts or resources loaded from third-party CDNs beyond the beacon mentioned above

## Your rights

Since we don't store any data that identifies you, there's no archive to pull you out of. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the [Garante per la protezione dei dati personali](https://www.garanteprivacy.it)). But if you have questions about how data is handled, want more information, or wish to exercise the rights granted by the EU's GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, objection), write to [contatti@survival-apps.com](mailto:contatti@survival-apps.com): the reply is human, not automated.

Less data collected, less data to protect. It's the same philosophy as the code: essential.
